doris in new york, Originally uploaded by moirabot
Doris is one of my favourite zines ever. I’m re-reading the anthology book after it appeared on a Powerpoint at LIANZA (displayed during Better looking than a blog, presented by the Wellington City zine librarians).
Anyway, this is a little bit I liked from a piece Cindy wrote about community in the big city:
NY. Isn’t it supposed to be alienating? We sit there and everyone that walks by knows them. Everyone’s in a hurry, there’s a sense of urgency, but they stop for a second and say “remind me later that I want to ask you about seed saving.” Or they stop and say “Community gardens bike ride, one hour.” Or they don’t stop, just wave.
