Aside from Central Park, green appears in the most unexpected places in this grey city. On the tops and sides of buildings by way of small and large trees – even just the moss on the building across the road viewed from our small apartment window. A pigeon is pecking at it as I write. These birds fly in and out of the traffic and I’ve never seen one lie in the road – streetwise!
- As published in Going Places, the output of a book workshop run by Ed Hutchins, also of Manhattan.
